AVIDYĀ 無明

2016

AVIDYĀ 無明 is a contemplative series that explores the intricate realms of self-identity and self-impression, utilizing both the precision and inaccuracy of 3D scanning technology to craft what can be seen as digital self-portraits. This series takes its name from the Sanskrit term "avidyā," which translates to ignorance or misunderstanding, particularly in the context of not seeing reality as it truly is.

Through the process of 3D scanning, AVIDYĀ 無明 replicates the artist’s own image, forming a digital mirror that reflects not just the surface but also the deeper, often obscured layers of identity. Each piece in the series transcends mere representation, it becomes a meditative inquiry into how technology mediates our understanding of self, perception and self-awareness.
